Why Mouth Breathing is Bad
Breathing through your mouth lead to serious issues:
1- Poor Sleep:
Mouth breathers are more likely to snore or develop sleep apnea. This leads to poor quality sleep and waking up tired.
2- Low Energy and Focus:
Less oxygen reaches your brain & body which can lead to fatigue, brain fog and anxiety.
3- Reduces Oxygen Efficiency:
Nasal breathing filters and humidifies air, warming it and allowing better oxygen absorption. Mouth breathing skips these steps, leading to lower oxygen delivery to the brain and body, causing fatigue, brain fog, and poor concentration.
4- More Cold and Infection:
Your nose filters out bacteria.
Your mouth doesn’t. Dry mouth and sore throat.
5- Weakens the Immune System:
Nose hairs and mucus trap dust, allergens, and microbes. Mouth breathing lets these particles directly enter the lungs, increasing the risk of infections and allergies.
6- Dental and Jaw Problems:
Saliva protects your teeth and gums. Mouth breathing dries out the mouth, leading to bad breath, gum disease and a higher risk of cavities. The jaw could shift downward and backward over time, leading to a weaker jawline and less defined facial structure.
